They’re howling at the moon

I’ve been watching The Office on NBC’s website (since Hulu is dogshit), and they show the same Glad advertisement every time there is a commercial break.  I’m still never going to spend the money on Glad.

It’s gorgeous out today – cold and raining.  People think I’m an asshole because I say how much I love the rain and cold and gloom but it’s really much more relaxing for me than a big blue sunny day.  Everything looks better with a gray backdrop.

HEY Y’ALL!

I haven’t done this since spring semester of last year.  I get wrapped up in other internet side-projects, like FarmVille (which is now defunct).  Not much has happened, not much will happen.  Just here, being alive.

I’m going home for a few days this weekend.  We’re taking Blue back up to NY to visit Mom and Dad and Nick and Jill.  I really hate East Meadow.  I wish my parents would just move already.  They need to go somewhere that doesn’t require the use of I-95 to get there.  Once we’re in Colorado, it’ll be as simple as a plane ride : )

New music?  Sure.  Here’s what’s been going on for the past six months (no particular order):  Owl City, Hudson Mohawke, Clipse, Wale, Drake, Airmen of Note, Conway Twitty.  I’m sure there’s more but of course I don’t remember.  A lot of rap, really.  Which is fine with me.. I’ve missed it. I just wish Wale wouldn’t keep pushing his album back.  Attention: Deficit is Nov. 20 now?  Kill me.

We’re waiting for a nice autumn night to watch Blair Witch Project.  It’s been so long since we’ve all seen that, I hope it’s not totally lame now.

DAMN IT.  I just realized it’s Friday which means the second part of my short story is due for English.  I mean to do this last night.  Crap.  That totally just ruined the whole morning.  Actually it’s only 7:30, thing ain’t due ’til 12:00.  I’ll have a bagel first.

Delicious bagels I picked out at Wegmans – some harvest fruit something or other.  Pretty delicious.

It’s been a while (cue staind), but nothing really goes on anyway.

I went to NY for three or four days, so that was a nice little vacation.  My brother decided it wouldn’t be awkward watching Zack & Miri Make A Porno with dad, and he was wrong.  Sure, dad thought it was funny, but that movie was a lot more extreme than any of us predicted.  I bought Skate 2 and seasons 1 and 2 of Rob & Big.

Driving to NY with Pat and Matt was fun, I haven’t seen Matt in a long time.  It was nice to joke around like we used to.  Pat’s Uncle Frank is hilarious, and an inspiration to both Patrick and I, resulting in us dropping out of college and going back to NY to be come FDNY.  Only then will we be hot and sexy and on calendars.

Getting sushi tonight, that should be scrumptious.  J Dilla is incredible.  I should’ve started listening sooner.

I forgot how wonderful jazz was for a while.  I got into this classical music funk with pat, and then got caught up in choral music for a while, but this morning changed all that.  Christian Mcbride’s Live @ Tonic album came on iTunes, and I’m hooked again.  He tears that record up with Ron Blake and Keezer.  Check out Geoff Keezer’s new record Aurea. It’s pretty tight, blending jazz and south american grooves – I’m digging it so far.

Maybe I’ll be really cool and start getting back into metal and emo and screamo and hardcore and post-rock and all that high school shit.  I like being back into hip hop a lot more, it’s nice to walk around with a groove in yo’self.  That’s why all this Mcbride and Keezer shit is so great, because no matter what time of day it is you can always just groove around and boogie everywhere you’re going.  Oh shit, that and some John Scofield – esp.  A Go Go, with MM&W.  Get that, fast.  ArtistShare is such a great record label – them and Ropeadope.  ‘Cept ropeadope doesn’t let you download PDFs of leadsheets and shit – still hip either way.

I played some duets with Ryan and it was pretty great – it’s nice to play with someone other than Matt during my lessons.  ETW will be good this year.. I’ll save all my tax returns and blow it all on trombone shit.  Looking forward to seeing Charlie Vernon play, too bad it’s with Ewazen.  I might be sending my trombone out to Shires to finally get the horn de-gillespified.  It’s really starting to have an effect on how I’m playing, and it makes me feel like I am slowly getting worse and worse at the trombone.  I need to get that all fixed up, maybe get a new mouthpiece or something.. then I’ll be super excited for the recital with Pat.  It’s tentatively April 8, but that’s a terrible night.. so we might try to stick it in the Choir Room some evening later on – we’ll see.

maybe i’ll keep writing in this thing seriously for a while.  for those of you who don’t know, the past like.. 4 months of having one of these was a joke.  can’t leave all the jokes behind though–

CLAMS TUESDAY!

Alright so Clams Tuesday is UNBELIEVABLE.  It’s pretty believable, actually.  Just go to Fat Tuesday’s and get clams for $2.00.  It’s very believable.  Also, get about a half-dozen Loose Cannon’s.  You’ll be ~LOOPY~

Yeah, so – official great things:  tea, bears, and clams.  I’m sure more things will be added on as they are discovered.

CATCH OF THE DAY

I still hate wind symphony, and I still hate orchestra.  I’m glad I came to this school because of the people I met and the experiences I’ve had, but it really blows performance-wise.  At least I’ll be a good teacher or something.
